Great to see so many riders last night. See this link for photos - hopefully of each rider as you passed Kirk Lane end.

Hi Liz,

Thanks - I appreciate this and your comments. I agree that the second claim issue is annoying. I'd like to see it abolished but I don't see it happening any time soon. However, I do have to disagree re inclusion. Those riders have chosen to *include* themselves in another club and benefit from being 1st claim members of that club, and through that choice they have excluded themselves from the opportunities available to 1st claim members of their 2nd claim club.

For those who are second claim members - I am looking into a potential solution given there are quite a few people in this position, and hopefully we may have something sorted for the remaining three events.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave,
I too am 2nd claim Stirling Bike Club, so have just withdrawn my entry on Spond. Had hoped that this year Scottish/British Cycling would have found a more inclusive way to insure these great club confined events, but having read your sign-on policy below, I realise this was over optimistic. I would have changed my BC licence over, but I'm racing at Lochgelly the following evening with an RT23 team-mate so the time-frame is too awkward.
Happy to help marshall etc if you find yourself short of manpower last minute.
Beth

Hi folks,

Here is the volunteer list I have so far:

Volunteers:
Start timekeeper - Steve Clayton
Finish timekeepers - Jim and Jackie
Finish line spotter - Gill Brett
Course marshal (Kirk Lane) - Nigel Holl
Course marshal (Kippen RDB) - Chi kong Cham

I think we have been a little over-subscribed for volunteers - which is great - but in the current circumstances I think it would be wise to have as few people as possible involved. If you have offered to help but not been allocated a slot this time round, there's always the next one!

I will turn up at HQ 30 min before start time with hi-viz, stopwatchers etc. for the volunteers.

Cheers

Dave

Hi guys,

Could I request a later start time if possible? Doesn't have to be last off or anything. Will just help me getting there in time from work.

Cheers, looking forward to this for some daft reason.

Hello,
I had signed up to the event on spond before seeing this and didn't realise it was for first claim members only (University of Stirling CC is my first claim club). If you'd like I can remove myself from the event and would be able to volunteer instead.

I’m now a second claim member, but very happy to help out marshalling, holding at start, generally shouting loudly etc. Steve Clayton also I believe .....so just assign us what-ever role you wish!

I'd say use whatever setup you want and we'll split into appropriate categories as required.

This year especially, it'll just be good to see as many folk as possible out there having a go.

Cheers

Last year it was mixed, there was both aero and non aero, was a great format and I know a few of us have TT bikes we are desperate to use 😂 so would be good to do that again this year.

The club confined are usually non aero, no bars, deep sections or knobby helmets. Keeps everyone on a level playing field, anyone want to confirm?

I have changed visibility on all current events. If you are a member of a ride group, even if you joined after the ride was setup, you may not have an invitation but you will now be able to see and join any ride that you are a member of.

You don't appear to be in the group receiving the TT invite (169 recipients) hence you don't see it in your Events page. Try contacting Steve Moore in the first instance to get your name added to the event.

Hi Andy
You should see the SBC confined TT on the home page of the app. If not, try ‘groups’, then all riders - the event should be visible there too

Hi David,

Can’t seem to find the invite anywhere on the Spond app. Had a look around to make sure I’m not being silly but can’t seem to see anything.

Hi all,

As part of the resumption of club activities as the restrictions ease, I'm pleased to announce that we are going to run four club confined time trials over the summer. These will all be 10 mile TTs on the A811 course. The dates are as follows:

Wednesday 26th May
Wednesday 30th June
Wednesday 28th July
Wednesday 25th August

First rider off at 7.01 pm in every case.

Registering for these TTs will take place via Spond - the invitation for the first one has been sent out, and it's good to see we have a dozen or so riders signed up already. If you've not already signed up for Spond, please do so - it's very easy to do, and will be required for you to take part in most of our club activities.

If you are not planning to take part, we could use your services as a volunteer. For each TT we'll need a start timekeeper, two course marshals (one at the Kippen roundabout and one at the Kirk Lane junction) and two finish timekeepers. I already have a few volunteers for next Wednesday, but please do post up if you can help out.

Lastly, with Covid restrictions still in place, I've created a guide for how we are going to run these events - if you're taking part, please make sure you read and understand these guidelines.

Cheers

Dave

SBC Club Confined Time Trial Series
How The Events Will Run

Signing Up
These time trials are run via Scottish Cycling/British Cycling. Only first claim club members can take part. If you don’t know what a first claim member is, you probably are one so it’s OK.
The time trials are created on Spond – accept the invitation if you want to attend.
You need to respond 24 hours ahead of the scheduled race time.
After entries close 24 hours before the race, I will create the start sheet and post this on Spond and the club forum.

The Course
The course begins just beyond the Touch Road junction with the A811, continues to the Kippen roundabout, and returns to finish beyond the Touch Road junction.
Strava segment: www.strava.com/segments/4185261

On The Night
You must have a working rear light fitted and in use for the race.
The race “HQ” is in the layby on the A811 just beyond the junction with the Touch Road.
Please cycle to the start, rather than drive, if you can.
Maintain 2 m distancing where possible at all times before and after the event.
Collect your race number from the organiser’s car boot and sign-on. Bring your own pen!
Volunteers collect high vis (and stopwatch if timekeeping) from the organiser’s car. Drop off in the box at sign-on when finished.
If you need assistance in pinning your number on, both you and your helper should wear a mask.
Do not warm-up on the course – warm-up on the Touch Road.
Before your start, queue on the Touch Road approach to the A811 – keeping socially distanced.
The start timekeeper will call you forward and set you off. Standing start – no push off.
At the finish, shout out your number to the timekeeper.
Take care when turning around after the finish to return to HQ.
Drop your number off in the box in the organiser’s car boot and leave – please don’t gather in the layby.
Results will be posted up after the event on the forum.
