Hi All,

I spoke to Jim P a while back about an alternative route for Dev CG.

I thought about a route that takes you through Fallin and Throsk and round the Moss Road twice.

It will be a busier road than what we have been used to, but will be safe enough for us.

If you look at the route below, open link, you will see at the start their is a roundabout with Station Road. If we meet up at the farm side, we can gather safely.

www.strava.com/routes/2991095636862414152

I will also post up on Spond.

We can try it out for the last six weeks or so for the Summer.

Still a 1900 (7pm) start.

I think that Becki is right - the road surface is just too rough for comfort. I haven't been for a few weeks and I think that numbers are drifting away. Probably time to call a halt to it fir this summer although I'm always open to ideas.

I think it’s the road surface that’s scared everyone away Alison! I’ve been on holiday & too busy with work but considering just making Tuesday night my 20mi local ride night rather than rattle myself ragged on the Chaingang!

I haven't been for a few weeks with work and still needing a replacement wheel.

I thought Jim Prentice was still turning up.

Hi Jayne,

That will be fine, we start at 1900. If you come along ten minutes before start you can meet riders etc...

Road surface isn't great on a section, but still good speed and chainganging.

Hi there
I have just rejoined the club after moving back into the area. I've done a fair bit of group riding this season and have some draft legal duathlons coming up. Can I come along to the development chain gang? It'd be really great to get more experience hanging onto some wheels!

Thanks,

Jayne

Folks - we'll be re-starting the Development Chain Gang tomorrow evening (Tuesday 26/4). The first couple of sessions or so will start at 6.30pm and we'll gather opposite the Bruceview Veterinary Surgery in Whins of Milton. Please be aware that the Surgery closes late so please keep the car park clear for their Customers. For those of you not familiar with a Chain Gang, we use a 2.1mile circuit starting from opposite the Vets and we usually do about 10 circuits. Andy Scobie will be taking a faster group and I'll be taking a slightly slower group. For first timers, Andy and I will explain the workings of it before we start so if we can get there by, say, 6.20pm that'll give us time for an explanatory chat. Weather looks okay (cool but dry) so hoping for a good turn out. See you then.

Don't get your hopes up on the quality of the road patches/repair. Still as rough as a farmer's field for 300m past the left hand turn by the farmyard so you'll be tossed around trying to follow the wheel in front!

Hi Folks - for those of you who may have missed the recent 'Members' Update' e-mail, just a brief word to say that the Development Chain Gang will, most likely, be re-starting on Tuesday 26 April '22. The circuit starts at Bruceview Veterinary surgery, heads into Chartershall, onto the road bridge over the motorway and then makes 2 left turns and this brings us back to the Vet's Surgery corner - 2.1 miles for each circuit. We'll get more details out to you nearer the time. I'm pleased to say that the circuit, which was badly potholed in one particular section, has been patched by Stirling Council and we feel that it is now safe and usable with care.
