Just echoing all the other comments.... what a fantastic way for the club to celebrate Lew's life!

Great ride through some of the finest countryside in Scotland with really great company!

Our group (the other steady 55) ended up with 8 punctures and one blown tyre between 3 of us and still managed to get all the way round with a bit of tube/tyre patch/pump/gel sharing.

Many thanks to the team for sharing spares, even to Jim P for his brand new inner tube with the price still attached (1 shilling) ;)

I have 2 new tubes sitting waiting to be repaid to the folks from Callander (white jersey's with the name of a café on them), I just need to track them down!

Also, the reason I was raiding the pork pies is that this happened to me on the run in to Dunblane, on that last kicker up to the T-junction coming into Braco from Gleneagles. It was a dark moment! :-D

I only had 2 halves and a 3 sausage roll slices! They were much appreciated though, savoury FTW!

I did see some of the 35 miler kids tucking into the last few... thoroughly deserved by every one of them. Tough ride from some tough wee legs!

I brought the pork pies...! Now where's my medal coz it's the only one I'm likely to get... Strava wasn't giving many out yesterday - thanks to the wind!

Yet another great SBC organised event Jim! Our friends from Ayrshire thoroughly enjoyed the day & were very complimentary on both the organisation and how friendly everyone was. It was a great day despite the weather & eating my own body weight in cake afterwards!

Requests for next year have to be equal quantity of sweet & savoury though... I could have murdered a pork pie after 75mi but alas the fast lads had them all...!!

I would just like to echo all the post Lew Weaver Memorial comments. I also would just like to add a big thank you to the Wallace Warrior (sorry don't know the young person's name) who rode today to help raise funds for Nepal. A timely reminder it's not always just about the bike. Chapeau. :)

Another great day, thanks to Jim and all of the willing helpers. It was a pleasure to be out with the club again today.

Having eaten my own bodyweight in cake I'm off for a lie down.

Pork pies? Did I get back too late? Nevertheless, thanks for organising a great ride Jim. Please can we have it less windy next year or fix it so that it comes from the east? Ta.

Just great to see everyone, reckon 140+!
Huge thanks to all the donations, despite my best efforts still mountains of cake left at the end!
Some will indeed do the BOB! ( checked the dates)
Many thanks to all the helpers especially in the kitchen, great set up by Shazas girls( well trained!) and Jules and Jo!
Some magnificent trainee waiters/ waitresses keeping everyone well fed!
So many comments from cyclists about how well they were looked after by SBC members!
SBC at its best and that is why we have this magnificent ethos in the club!
Next year Saturday 14th May!

Big thanks to JimT and everyone else involved in the organisation. Great ride as usual, apart from bonking horribly on that minor rise coming back towards the junction just north of Braco. The cakes and pork pies (whoever brought the pork pies deserves a medal) were life-saving.

Edit:
It was also brilliant to see everyone at the hall after the rides, great atmosphere and good to see Mark Leadbetter rightfully acknowledged as the winner of the 75 mile steady group.

Great event today, well done to Jim T and all the ride leaders.

Also have to mention the cakes and tea, well needed at the end of a windy cycle, so thanks to everyone who set the hall up afterwards.

Hi Jim, think there are a few from the tri club coming along on the day. Mostly for the 55-miler, but also candidates for the short and long as well.

I am coming for the 55 mile steady group.

See you Saturday.

The black wind circles on the Beeb forecast are max gust speeds, sustained is usually about half that - basically anything over 20mph and they start give max gusts as opposed to average speed.

I'll be there at 8am to help and do whatever's required - let me know if there's anything specific. If I can I'd like to join a group - 55 or longer - don't really care as long as is it's not the "Rip Yer Legs Off" group, but if you need help in the hall I'm happy to stay and do that too. Let me know.

Cheers
Mark

Jimmy T, was speaking to Sam and we were wondering if there was a need for two 75mile fast groups? Think there was only one last year and it had about 15 riders in it. Might be worth us just riding in same group?

Ok Jim, I'll bring tools to remove signage and I'll turn up early as I can to help sign on.

Lynsey (who is Lesley?) has agreed to help out in the hall, but she will have the girls so they can just run riot. Amelia's pretty good at looking appealing and shaking a collection bucket.

No problem Jim. Put me down for a pay-on-the-day and I'll take one of the 75m groups.

Apologies , Andrew if you could help Graeme Sat pm to take down half the signs that would be great.
It takes approx 2hrs for half the route.

Davie L is the man for putting up signs on the Friday, he knows the routine. Would really appreciate if Neil could help him.
Neil when would you be available from on the Friday? Earlier the better. Grant when would you be available from?

Graeme If you could take half signs down with a.n.other Sat pm that would be great. Hopefully Euan L will help me take down the other half over Dunning way.
People in the hall is very important so would appreciate if Lesley could manage.
All offers of signing on will be great.
Sam, that is ok for payng on the day. Just as long as people get in touch and let me know. You would be ideal for taking one of the 75m groups!

Evening Jim

I can help put signage out on the Friday night, and take down on Sat pm. I could probably help out at sign on, then lead a group over the 35m course.

Lynsey's offered to bake, I'll see if she can come and serve teas as well but it might mean bringing the kids and letting them loose in the hall.

cheers

G

That time of year again and fingers crossed for the weather this year!
Many thanks to everyone who has already entered through Entry Central as advertised on our home page. Can I urge all members to sign up just so we have an idea of entry numbers for the day.
The run is on 16th May and starts from the Victoria hall in Dunblane.

N.B. This is the Saturday run, there will be no runs leaving from the Peak that Saturday.

I need some assistance. On the Friday we need to put up route signs and they need taken down Saturday pm.
2 groups of two would be helpful.
5/6 volunteers for the signing on on Saturday morning, required from around 8am.
I am also looking for run leaders for the 35/55&75m routes. I will be in touch with the usual suspects but new blood is always welcome.
If anyone's not up for cŷcling I would appreciate there help, looking after the hall and preparing tea and coffee.
I am also looking for donations of home baking for the tea and coffee afterwards.

Best wishes
Jim Tierney
