I brought the pork pies...! Now where's my medal coz it's the only one I'm likely to get... Strava wasn't giving many out yesterday - thanks to the wind!
Yet another great SBC organised event Jim! Our friends from Ayrshire thoroughly enjoyed the day & were very complimentary on both the organisation and how friendly everyone was. It was a great day despite the weather & eating my own body weight in cake afterwards!
Requests for next year have to be equal quantity of sweet & savoury though... I could have murdered a pork pie after 75mi but alas the fast lads had them all...!!
I would just like to echo all the post Lew Weaver Memorial comments. I also would just like to add a big thank you to the Wallace Warrior (sorry don't know the young person's name) who rode today to help raise funds for Nepal. A timely reminder it's not always just about the bike. Chapeau.
Great day JimT, now wishing I'd listened to you about taking a cakes carry out . Thanks to Jason, Steve M & Stuart for guiding/shepherding the group today and to everyone working back in the hall. Who knew you could be blown back up Glendevon!!!
Just great to see everyone, reckon 140+!
Huge thanks to all the donations, despite my best efforts still mountains of cake left at the end!
Some will indeed do the BOB! ( checked the dates)
Many thanks to all the helpers especially in the kitchen, great set up by Shazas girls( well trained!) and Jules and Jo!
Some magnificent trainee waiters/ waitresses keeping everyone well fed!
So many comments from cyclists about how well they were looked after by SBC members!
SBC at its best and that is why we have this magnificent ethos in the club!
Next year Saturday 14th May!
#no one left behind!
Big thanks to JimT and everyone else involved in the organisation. Great ride as usual, apart from bonking horribly on that minor rise coming back towards the junction just north of Braco. The cakes and pork pies (whoever brought the pork pies deserves a medal) were life-saving.
It was also brilliant to see everyone at the hall after the rides, great atmosphere and good to see Mark Leadbetter rightfully acknowledged as the winner of the 75 mile steady group.
Gill, registration is Victoria Hall Dunblane, open from 8am. Many thanks.
Yes Stuart thinking we will need all the home baking we can get, looking good. Just hoping wind is not too bad, certainly now looking dry which will be a change!
The black wind circles on the Beeb forecast are max gust speeds, sustained is usually about half that - basically anything over 20mph and they start give max gusts as opposed to average speed.
I'll be there at 8am to help and do whatever's required - let me know if there's anything specific. If I can I'd like to join a group - 55 or longer - don't really care as long as is it's not the "Rip Yer Legs Off" group, but if you need help in the hall I'm happy to stay and do that too. Let me know.
over 50 have entered for 75m on entry central!
At the moment I am hoping 3 75 m runs but may well be 4!
We can judge it on the morning.
I have emailed all entrants and should be able to judge beforehand!
will be in touch!
Jimmy T, was speaking to Sam and we were wondering if there was a need for two 75mile fast groups? Think there was only one last year and it had about 15 riders in it. Might be worth us just riding in same group?
I will endeavour to bring some baking! Can't help with setup I'm afraid (got a running - and wading, but hopefully not swimming) race in Fife on Friday. But I can help take down signs afterwards if you still need another body.
Saturday 16th May, if you intend to cycle , enter online or get n touch with myself.
There is no official timing so can all cyclists remember to sign OUT when they finish their run.
For those signing up on the day, please ENSURE you sign on in the Hall with details please. Please try to arrive EARLY!
The feed station is at the end, in Victoria Halls.
Cyclists should come prepared with food and drink. However there are shops,in Braco, Crieff,Aberuthven & Dunning for emergencies.
There is no official support vehicles so mechanicals will need to be dealt with by yourself or some other friendly cyclist. There will be no shortage of support in any of the organised groups that set off.
In the event of a serious accident there will be an emergency number for Victoria Halls.
Cyclists should feel free to go off when they wish ( between 9 and 10) , making sure the groups are no bigger than 20.
Official groups and timings are:-
RUNS: 75 steady Steven Moore (FA) Jason 9am
75 brisk. Derek Ditty(FA), Andrew Wilson 9.05am
75 brisk Sam Shaw, Donald McLean (FA) 9.10am
55 brisk Jim Prentice and Euan Lowe (FA) 9.15am
55 steady Jim Tierney and Sharon Walthew(FA) 9.20am

Maps will be available for all three routes with important advice included.
Davie L is the man for putting up signs on the Friday, he knows the routine. Would really appreciate if Neil could help him.
Neil when would you be available from on the Friday? Earlier the better. Grant when would you be available from?
Graeme If you could take half signs down with a.n.other Sat pm that would be great. Hopefully Euan L will help me take down the other half over Dunning way.
People in the hall is very important so would appreciate if Lesley could manage.
All offers of signing on will be great.
Sam, that is ok for payng on the day. Just as long as people get in touch and let me know. You would be ideal for taking one of the 75m groups!
That time of year again and fingers crossed for the weather this year!
Many thanks to everyone who has already entered through Entry Central as advertised on our home page. Can I urge all members to sign up just so we have an idea of entry numbers for the day.
The run is on 16th May and starts from the Victoria hall in Dunblane.
N.B. This is the Saturday run, there will be no runs leaving from the Peak that Saturday.
I need some assistance. On the Friday we need to put up route signs and they need taken down Saturday pm.
2 groups of two would be helpful.
5/6 volunteers for the signing on on Saturday morning, required from around 8am.
I am also looking for run leaders for the 35/55&75m routes. I will be in touch with the usual suspects but new blood is always welcome.
If anyone's not up for cŷcling I would appreciate there help, looking after the hall and preparing tea and coffee.
I am also looking for donations of home baking for the tea and coffee afterwards.
