Hi all Warriors,

The club has 3 Dolan track bikes (thanks to Dunblane road race fund for the grant) for Warriors to borrow & two are still available for loan.

If you think you would make use of one please get in touch with myself. We would love to see them all in use. There is no charge for their use but they do need to be returned in good working order.

We have 3 sizes; the 52” is in use and there is a 50” and a 45” ready to be ridden.
Both are new and have never been used in anger.

The idea behind the club buying track bikes was to make racing more available to all as the velodrome no longer hires out track bikes for racing. They do however hire out bikes for drop in sessions and accreditation too. To be able to use the Glasgow velodrome riders need to take part in 4 accreditation sessions. These can be booked via the velodrome; tel 0141-287-7000 or via the Emirates Arena website…
www.emiratesarena.co.uk/getting-here/Pages/contact.aspx
Alternatively there are the proposed sessions outlined above.

Every Monday evening there are coached youth drop in sessions where riders from 8-16 years can drop in and use the track and the sessions are available to any accredited rider.
On Wednesday nights there is also a track league when youth C riders ( age 11-12) and older can join in the youth races.
Again once accredited there are opportunities to take part in other track events, training and sessions held at Glasgow… Meadowbank and Dundee outdoor tracks too. 8 is generally the youngest age that riders can start riding a track bike.

We regularly have a handful of Warriors riding and racing at the velodrome and would very much encourage more to give it a try. It’s great fun!

Look forward to hearing from some of you?! :D :D :D

When I was a boy of 14 my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21 I was astonished by how much he'd learned in seven years. Mark Twain.

Please see the following important message (Plea?) from Craig McCulloch at SC.

Subject: youth track accredaitions
Importance: High
Hi All,
As you may know the Scotland Youth track cluster sessions start this Sunday and the numbers are well down on last year. This may be partly due to cyclo-cross racing but accreditation must also be an issue, despite being told 8 months ago that full accreditation will be required when the sessions start again I’m getting reports that some are still not accredited! The reality is because there are no accreditation sessions on the weekend so it’s difficult to access for non-Glasgow based people. Yes, there are holiday periods but it’s clearly still a barrier...
in conjunction with GL we can use the cluster time to arrange accreditations so we really need to find out how many youths are not accredited and try to plan getting them through. That said there is no guarantee they a rider will pass since they is no capacity to coach them before or after so it’s a bit hit and hope but it’s the best we can do in the current situation!
Please can you send this form out to all your clubs and coaches – try and go far and wide with this. Right now we don’t really have a functioning pathway for track so can you help get this addressed quickly.
