Got an update from the various chats going on around various internet locations - and also spoke to Crispin who is the Cycling UK rep who has been championing the cause to get this sorted properly.

Dumyat Path - the original tender pack states that the first sections (Sections 2 and 4) should be hand built only. These sections have been machine built by the SPEN contractor.

- Work has now been temporarily halted but we must make sure it does not re-start without adherence to the tender pack and best practice.

To complain, email as per the link for Customer Care North - https://www.spenergynetworks.co.uk/pages/complaints.aspx
cc: Your MSP and councillor.

Dumyat is used by many people, this needs to be done properly and what is being done just now is not proper. If you use the hill, please send in a email of complaint so they are aware of the issues this is causing.

Probably like the footpaths they put through mine woods - wonder how the fell running fraternity will react as the hill is used as part of the burn and bog series.
Real shame

A rather sad turn of events is happening just now - Dumyat is being 'updated'/'upgraded'/'improved' - apparently as part of the Denny-Beauly power line, path remediation and improvements was part of the deal. Somehow, the path to the top of Dumyat was part of this and the work has now started.

Machinery is on site and material is being dropped and 'shaped' - really unsure how it is going to look, but I suspect for the next several years it is going to look bad.

A real shame as Dumyat has always been a really nice ride, however, with the massive increase in users on the hill - mountain bikers, runners, walkers, etc. the path has taken a serious beating and it is now a motorway compared to how it was even 5 years ago. The boggy sections have widened and lengthened and they don't appear to dry out like they used to in the summer.
